In March 2011, our “Aqua Hazard” film team won the 5th Annual International Marine Debris Conference’s Statewide Student Video Contest, hosted by NOAA in Honolulu. The Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation donated the funds needed to fly those three students and our E.D. to Honolulu to participate in the conference through the Kōkua Foundation’s Student Ambassador’s program, and to introduce their film! The Kōkua Foundation also paid for our hotel rooms and took us on an amazing trip to the the Coconut Island Marine Research Facility. Mahalo to NOAA and Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation for making this fun and educational trip possible!
